1. Who We Are
This website is operated by:
IHT Planners LLP

United Kingdom
LLP Number: OC461845
Email: contact@ihtplanners.com
IHT Planners LLP is the "data controller" for the personal data we collect through this website, meaning we decide how and why your data is used. We are registered, or in the process of registering, with the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) as required under UK data protection law.
IHT Planners LLP is not authorised by the Financial Conduct Authority. We provide Inheritance Tax education and planning guidance, and introduce clients to authorised specialists where regulated advice is required.
2. What Information We Collect
We may collect the following categories of personal data:
- Contact details you give us when booking a free review, requesting our free guide, or getting in touch — such as your name, email address, phone number, preferred contact time, and any message you send us.
- General financial indicators you choose to share through our free online check — such as broad value ranges for your home, pension, savings and investments, and other assets, together with your marital status, whether you have a Will, and (optionally) your number of beneficiaries.
- Technical and usage information collected automatically when you visit our website, such as your IP address, browser type, device information, and how you interact with the site (see our use of cookies below).
About our free online check: the tool asks you to select broad value ranges rather than exact figures, and gives you a general indication only — it does not calculate or display a specific value for your estate. The answers you give are used in your browser to show you that general result; where the tool is connected to a submission or follow-up process, your answers may also be sent to us so that we can get in touch about your free review, as described in this policy.
3. How We Use Your Information
We use your personal data to:
- respond to your enquiries and arrange a free, no-obligation review;
- send you information or guides you have requested;
- give you a general indication of your Inheritance Tax position based on the ranges you select;
- where you consent, send you relevant updates, guides, or seminar invitations by email;
- introduce you to a trusted, FCA-authorised specialist, but only where you have asked us to or agreed to such an introduction;
- maintain the security and proper functioning of our website; and
- comply with our own legal and regulatory obligations.
4. Our Lawful Basis for Processing
Under UK GDPR, we rely on the following lawful bases:
- Consent — for example, when you submit the free online check or sign up to receive marketing emails. You can withdraw consent at any time (see Section 8).
- Legitimate interests — for example, responding to enquiries you have raised with us, and keeping our website secure, where this does not override your own rights and interests.
- Legal obligation — where we need to process data to comply with the law.
We use a separate, explicit opt-in for marketing communications — this is never bundled with submitting the free online check or contact form.
5. Who We Share Your Information With
We do not sell your personal data. We may share it with:
- a trusted, FCA-authorised adviser or other regulated specialist in our network, but only where you have asked for or agreed to an introduction;
- service providers who support our website, email and booking systems, under appropriate data protection terms; and
- regulators, law enforcement, or other third parties where we are required to do so by law.
6. How Long We Keep Your Information
We retain personal data only for as long as necessary for the purposes it was collected — typically for the duration of our relationship with you plus a reasonable period afterwards to deal with any follow-up queries or legal requirements, after which it is securely deleted or anonymised.
7. How We Protect Your Information
Given the sensitive nature of financial information, we take appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your data, including encryption in transit, restricted access on a need-to-know basis, and secure storage, retained only for as long as necessary.
8. Your Rights
Under UK GDPR, you have the right to:
- access the personal data we hold about you;
- ask us to correct inaccurate data;
- ask us to delete your data, in certain circumstances;
- restrict or object to our processing of your data;
- ask for your data to be provided to you or transferred elsewhere (data portability); and
- withdraw consent at any time, where we rely on consent — for example, by unsubscribing from marketing emails or contacting us directly.
To exercise any of these rights, please contact us at contact@ihtplanners.com.
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your personal data, you also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.
9. Cookies
Our website may use cookies and similar technologies to help it function properly and to understand how visitors use the site. Where we use any non-essential cookies, we will ask for your consent via a cookie banner before they are set. You can control or delete cookies through your browser settings at any time.
10. Children
Our services are intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children.
11. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated "last updated" date.

This Privacy Policy is provided as a starting point based on the information and functionality described to us, and has not been reviewed by a solicitor. Given that this website collects sensitive financial information, we strongly recommend having this policy reviewed by a solicitor or data protection specialist — and considering whether a Data Protection Impact Assessment (DPIA) is appropriate — before the site goes live.
